Judy L. Heckman, "Wilma", 56, of Centerport, died of natural causes on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 3:31 pm in her residence.
Born in Maxatawny Twp., she was the daughter of Earnest C. Kohler, Centerport and the late Beatrice G. (Christman) Kohler. Judy worked for fourteen years as a shipping and receiving clerk for Schneider Electric, Leesport, last working in February. She was a member of Salem (Belleman's) Church, Centre Twp. Judy was also a member of the Blandon, Shoemakersville, and Mt. Pleasant Fire Companies, and the Northkill Rod and Gun Club. She enjoyed camping and "yard shopping".
Surviving in addition to her father is one daughter: Amy S. (Heckman), wife of Ronald J. Merkel, Perry Twp.; and two grandchildren: Summer Heckman and Luke Merkel. Also surviving are two brothers: Gary L., husband of Debra (Dietrich) Kohler, Shoemakersville; and Daryl E., husband of Nancy (Fenical) Kohler, Hamburg; three sisters: Patsy A. (Kohler) Catherman, Columbia, South Carolina; Linda L. (Kohler), wife of Frank Bucher, Bernville; and Darlene M. (Kohler), wife of Homer Fisher, Macungie; several nieces and nephews; and her companion: Richard Witmoyer, Leesport. Judy was predeceased by her son: Andy L. Heckman, on August 25, 2001; and her sister: Deborah K. (Kohler), wife of John C. Trabosh, Mohrsville, on September 14, 2010.
Services will be on Wednesday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg, with Rev. Bruce W. Potteiger officiating. Burial will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Wednesday 9:30 to 11:00 am.
