John J. Stetzler, 86, of Upper Bern Twp., and formerly of Shoemakersville, died Saturday, April 13, 2013 in his residence. He was the husband of Doris E. (Stump) Stetzler, died November 30, 1995.
Born in Perry Twp., he was the son of the late Guy D. and Edna (Fields) Stetzler. John was raised a farmer. He then owned and operated John Stetzler Upholstery. John was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Shoemakersville. He was a charter member of Shoemakersville Area Lions Club; and a member of the Shartlesville, Shoemakersville, Virginville, and Hamburg Fire Companies. John enjoyed bingo, bottle collecting, and playing cards.
John is survived by one son: Allen L., husband of Dawn S. (Clouser) Stetzler, Windsor Twp.; two daughters: Ann L. (Stetzler), wife of Dean W. Keller, Upper Tulpehocken Twp.; and Debra E. (Stetzler), wife of Eugene L. Hix, Upper Bern Twp., and with whom he resided; five grandchildren: Alison Stetzler, Andrea Stetzler, Holli Pawling, Joel Hix, and Jeremy Hix; and one great-granddaughter: Journey Marie Hix. He was predeceased by two brothers: Daniel and Grant Stetzler; and one sister: Kathryn Kulp.
Services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial will be in Zion's Cemetery, Perry Twp.
