John A. Skopek, 78, of Bern Twp., passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021 in St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Twp. He was the husband of the late Joanne C. (Weidman) Skopek. She passed away on March 10, 2020. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Chester J. and Miriam L. (Heller) Skopek. He graduated from Reading High School in 1961. John was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Parish. He worked for Glidden Paint, Reading. John is survived by a daughter: Angela J. Carl, wife of Donald, Hegins; three grandchildren: Kyle, Raechel, and Riley; three step-grandsons: Donnie, Thomas and Frankie; and three great-grandchildren: Bodie, Cameron, and Chandler. He is also survived by three sisters: Carol Anne, widow of Martin Herr, Exeter, Susan, wife of Kent Arters, Reading, and Patricia, wife of Guy Hrezik, Exeter. He was predeceased by a daughter: Jenette L. Eck, wife of Gary Eck, Centerport; and a grandson: Joseph Gary Eck. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 11:00 from Holy Guardian Angels Parish, 3121 Kutztown Rd., Reading, PA 19605. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery.
