IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John J.
Seitzinger
May 14, 1929 – March 30, 2023
John Jacob Seitzinger was born in Haag's Hotel May 14, 1929. He is the son of the late Florence Seitzinger (Haag) and John E. Seitzinger. John is resting eternal since March 30, 2023. He grew up at Haag's Hotel in Shartlesville, Pennsylvania, working milking cows and raising chickens for the restaurant. He met Helen May Seaman as they went to Upper Bern Elementary grade school together with Helen being the only girl who could run as fast as John during recess. A budding romance was born. John courted Helen while riding his horse to her home a mile
outside of town. The romance continued while John was in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. John and Helen married on December 4th,1954 after he returned from the Army. John graduated from Hamburg High School in 1947, and went to Albright College prior to the Army majoring in Business. He then worked in the Haag's Hotel family business until retirement at age 80. John was a lifelong member of Frieden's Church, Shartlesville and a 50-year member of the Shartlesville Lions Club. He was a Lifetime Shartlesville Fish and Game and Lifetime Fire Company member, a Mason and a Grundsau Lodge member. John had a love of nature spending almost every day of retirement on his mountain property, planting and pruning trees, hunting deer and simply driving his Jeep on the property looking for the next nature scene. He was also a life-long Boston Red Sox fan as well as a Penn State football enthusiast.
He was the most wonderful father to eight children, naming them all with a nature-themed middle name: Bonnie Lake, companion of Samuel Stallard, Ashley Moon, husband of Peggy (Broughall), Tracy Brooke, husband of Tina (Hoch), John Frost, husband of Suzanne (Anker), Troy Oak, companion of Michele Miller, Tammie Echo, companion of Scott Grynastyl, Dr. Jed Spruce, husband of Michele (Christman), and Dana Snow, husband of Kathy (Patrick).
He deeply loved his 28 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren. John was pre- deceased by his wife Helen in December 2021, granddaughter Taylor Nicole Seitzinger in March 2009, and sister Lillian (Seitzinger) Clemens in January 2004. He is surely glad to be reunited with them in Heaven. Until we meet again, Dad and Grandpa, we all love you!
