John P. Markovich, 68, of Windsor Twp., died Saturday, January 28, 2012 in Schuylkill Medical Center South Jackson Street, Pottsville. He was the husband of Jane B. (Bickel) Markovich. They were married on May 26, 1984.

Born in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Thomas and Rose (Gritz) Markovich. He was a 1961 graduate of Seton-LaSalle High School, Pittsburgh; and a 1965 graduate of The University of Pittsburgh. John was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a certified public accountant, and worked as a controller for Safeguard Scientifics, Inc., King of Prussia. He was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Tilden Twp. John was also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Surviving in addition to his wife is one step-daughter: Laura J. (Flammer) Ringler, Portland, Oregon; two brothers: Thomas A. Markovich, and his wife Sandy; and James Markovich, and his wife Cheryl; and one sister: Rosemary (Markovich), wife of Walter Shumaker, all of Pittsburgh. John is also survived by two nieces: Kristin Markovich; and Sarah Markovich; one nephew: Matthew Markovich; one great-niece: Kylie Rose; two aunts: Agnes (Markovich) Hollingsworth, High Point, NC; and Flo (Gritz) Jarush, New Britain, CT; and several cousins. He was predeceased by a nephew: Thomas J. Markovich.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am from St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 94 Walnut Road, Hamburg. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tilden Twp.
