Keiser
July 3, 1927 – June 23, 2025
John Richard Keiser, "Dick", 97, of Hamburg, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2025. He was the husband of Mary M. (Nies) Keiser. They were married on July 23, 1960 and would have celebrated sixty-five years of marriage.
Born in West Reading on July 3, 1927, he was the son of the late Elmer W. and Elsie D. (Kline) Keiser. Dick was a native of Hamburg and attended Hamburg High School, graduating in the Class of 1945, followed by graduating from McCann's School of Business, Reading, in 1946.
Dick was active in various local organizations, beginning with St. John's Lutheran Church Boy Scout Troop #2. He was a charter member of the Hamburg Jaycees; and a member of the Hamburg Lions Club and Hamburg Community Concert Choir. Dick was employed in the offices of Price Battery Corporation, later Exide Corporation, Hamburg and Reading, for forty-two years. As a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hamburg, Dick served as a church council member, Sunday School teacher and youth group advisor. He loved his family, golfing, singing and dancing.
Surviving in addition to his wife is one daughter: Susan Masitta, wife of David R. Himmelberger, Mohrsville; three grandchildren: Daniel W. Himmelberger, husband of Julie; Katie Masitta (Himmelberger) Kalis, wife of Justin; and Michael D. Himmelberger, fiance of Kaitlin Geiss; and four great-grandchildren: Evelyn, Isabel, Asher and Emery. Dick is also survived by his sister-in-law: Sara J. Wolfe; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister: Dorothy J. Keiser; and sister-in-laws: Elizabeth A. Clapper and Helen L. Keenan.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at 11:00 am at Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear). A visitation will be held in the funeral home from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Burial will be private in St. John's Cemetery, Hamburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 99 Church Street, Hamburg, PA 19526.
