Kauffman

John A. Kauffman, "Jack", 96, formerly of Shoemakersville, passed away peacefully on Thursday,
July 4, 2024.
Born in Mohrsville, PA, he was the son of the late Paul Kauffman and Lucy Free
Kauffman.
Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Dorothy Adam
Kauffman, eldest son Paul K. Kauffman, and brother Chester Kauffman.
Jack proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1947 and later earned his pilot's license. He
worked as a machinist at Allen Sherman Hoff Pump Co. in Hamburg for 32 years. He also
started his own namesake landscaping business which he ran with his wife for over 35 years
before retiring in 1991. He spent his retirement mowing lawns, maintaining his home, traveling
with Dorothy, and enjoying time with his family, friends and neighbors.
Jack was a dedicated member of St. Luke's Church in Shoemakersville for 74 years serving in the
choir and Cemetery Board, a member of the Masonic Vaux Lodge #406, and North Mountain
Hunting Camp.
Jack is survived by his daughter, Donna Hepner, wife of Clyde, Howe, Texas; his son, Jack
Kauffman, husband of Carol, Gloucester, Virginia; granddaughter Michele Kauffman, wife of
Gregory Ferenchick, Wyomissing; grandson Keith Kauffman, husband of Melissa, Shoemakersville; granddaughter Annie Hepner, Texas; and grandson Noah Kauffman, New
Hampshire, and sister Katherine Homm, wife of Donald, Hamburg. Jack was also cherished by his great-
grandchildren: Ben, Keeley, and Hayes, and friend David Gassert. All will miss Jack's smile,
kindness, and his appreciation for everyone he met.
Services will be held on Sunday, July 14 at 2:00 pm from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Leesport. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Sunday, July 14 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. Burial will be private in Zion's Cemetery, Perry Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Luke's Union Church, Fifth and Franklin Streets, Shoemakersville, PA 19555.
