Obituary

John E. Henn, 80, of Hamburg, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 in his residence. He was the husband of Marlene J. (Clemmer) Henn. They were married on July 2, 1949 and celebrated 62 years of marriage.

Born in Shoemakersville, he was the son of the late Charles, Sr. and Stella (Borkey) Henn. He was a 1949 graduate of Ontelaunee Vocational School. John worked for forty years for Allentown Portland Cement Company until his retirement. He attended Hamburg Bible Church. John was a member of Central Berks Lions Club for over thirty-five years, serving as president from 1977-1978. He was named Lion of the Year and received the Melvin Jones Award. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, #525, Hamburg, for many years; and a member of the Goodwill Fire Company and beneficial association. John was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan. He enjoyed gardening and his fruit trees. John was well known for his large pumpkins, receiving many awards.

John was "Daddy" to two daughters: Rosemary J. (Henn) Reppert, Atlanta, Georgia; and Sandra A. (Henn) Price, Reading; and deceased son: Larry L. Henn, died in 1989. He was "Pop Pop" to Jacob A. Henn; Rachel M. Henn; Jeremy J. Price; Melissa (Reppert) Reese; and Katie Reppert; and "Great Pop Pop" to Rylee, Reagan, Emmaline, and Ellie Kate Price. John is also survived by his daughter-in-law: Hannah (Scales) Pierce, Sinking Spring; four brothers: Daniel, Floyd, Calvin, and Charles, Jr. Henn; and eight sisters: Irene Lash, Shirley Williams, Patricia Keller, Mae King, Beverly Miller, Kathy Wentzel, Lorraine Long, and Nancy Vollmer. He was predeceased by one brother: Raymond Henn; and one sister: Violet Hoffmaster.

Services will be on Friday at 11:00 from Hamburg Bible Church, 731 Port Clinton Avenue, Hamburg, PA 19526. A viewing will be held in the church Friday 9:00 to 11:00 am. Burial will be private in Forest Hills Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be sent to Hamburg Bible Church, at the address above.
