John R, Gring, 73, of Tilden Twp., passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 26, 2019 in Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center. He was the husband of Phianna I. (Kramer) Gring. They were married on July 10, 1971 and celebrated forty-seven years of marriage.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Russell and Gertrude (Labe) Gring. He was a graduate of Reading High School; and a U.S. Marine Corp. veteran of the Vietnam War. John was a truck driver for different companies over the years. He enjoyed horses and going to horse sales.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his children: Charles W. Gring, Hamburg; and Melissa A. (Gring), wife of David McDonough, Tilden Twp.; seven grandchildren: Kelee Machemer, Samantha Gonzalez, Jasmine Ernstam, Dylan McDonough, Sean McDonough, Ryan McDonough and Bridget McDonough; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
