Obituary

John F. Adams, 82, of Edenburg, Windsor Twp., died Tuesday, April 17, 2012 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Twp., Lehigh Co., where he was a patient since April 8. He was the husband of Anna E. (Klinger) Adams. They were married on November 16, 1957 and celebrated 54 years of marriage.
Born in West Reading, he was the son of the late John Q. and Ellen R. (Kauffman) Adams. He was a 1947 graduate of Hamburg High School. John was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked for 31 1/2 years for E.S. Savage, Hamburg. He then worked for twelve years for Glen-Gery Brick Corporation, Perry Twp.; and last worked for seventeen years for R.S. Snyder, New Tripoli, until his retirement. John was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hamburg, where he was a former member of church council. He was also a board member of St. John's Cemetery Company. In 1965, John was named Outstanding Young Man of America from the Pennsylvania Jaycees. For forty years, he drove the King Frost float for the Hamburg Jaycees King Frost Parade. He was a life member of Union Fire Company of Hamburg and beneficial association; a life member of Behler-Hein #637 American Legion; and a member of Wagner-Good Post #216 V.F.W., Hamburg. John was a charter member of the Hamburg Lions Club. He was a tax collector for Windsor Twp. for twenty-eight years. John received a safe driving award for driving more than two million miles without an accident.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters: Lori A. (Adams) Bailey, fiancee of Willard L. Driesbach, Jr., Tilden Twp.; and Sandi L. (Adams), wife of Timothy T. Rubright, Kutztown; and two grandsons: Jeffrey and Michael Bailey. John was predeceased by a sister: Anna (Adams) Miller.
Services will be on Saturday at 1:00 pm from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial with military honors will be in St. John's Cemetery, Hamburg. A viewing will be held on Saturday from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be sent to St. John's Lutheran Church Bell Tower Fund, 99 Church Street, Hamburg, PA 19526.
