Jesse W. Brown, 85, of Leesport, died Monday, April 22, 2013 in his residence. He was the husband of Darlene M. (McMullen) Heffner.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Jesse H. and Dorothy (Schearer) Brown. Jesse was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he was a member of the 11th Airborne Division and a paratrooper. He was Vice President of Key Accountants for Singer Equipment Company, working from 1973 until his retirement in July 2010. Jesse was a drummer for The Royal Serenaders and The Mellotones.
Surviving in addition to his wife Darlene are two sons: Jesse W. Brown, II, and his wife Angie, Ontelaunee Twp.; and David Brown, and his wife Jacque, West Lawn; three daughters: Rebekkah (Brown), wife of Demir Kojku, Allentown; Brenda (Brown), wife of Ed Diaz; and Ellen Brown, both of Sinking Spring; two step-sons: Dean G. Heffner, and his wife Denise, Bern Twp.; and Brian R. Heffner, and his wife Traci, Perry Twp.; twelve grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Jesse is also survived by one brother: Wendell E. Brown, and his wife Ann; and one sister: Patricia E. (Brown), widow of Bob Burkhart, both of Wyomissing.
Services will be on Thursday at 10:30 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial with military honors will be in Leesport Cemetery.
