Wertz
December 28, 1932 – July 6, 2025
Janet M. Wertz, 92, of Centre Twp., entered the land where the roses never fade on Sunday, July 6, 2025. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert J. Wertz.
Born in Penn Twp., she was the daughter of the late William K. and Nora M. (Rhine) Spatz. Janet was a 1950 graduate of Penn Bernville High School, where she was class secretary for four years. She was an activity therapist at Berks Heim for 24 years from 1973-1997. She was very dedicated to the residents. Janet attended church at Bible Tabernacle Pentacostal Church, Schuylkill Haven and Christ Little Tulpehocken Church, Bernville. She was a gospel musician and avid Phillies fan. Janet enjoyed flowers and feeding the birds, yard sales, flea markets, and Wednesdays at the Leesport Farmers Market.
Janet is survived by her two daughters: Linda Schappell, widow of Pete Rubio; and Dianne Martin, wife of Elmer; seven grandchildren: Justin, Kyle, Jody, Kathy, Derek, Lora and Benjamin; ten great-grandchildren: Sky, Trevor, Chad, Olivia, Dylan, Aidan, Carter, Grayson, Makayla and Riley; two great-great-grandsons: Carter and Xavier; and her brother-in-law: Charles DeBoeser. She was predeceased by her daughter: Bonnie Bowers, wife of Richard; and her siblings: Ruth Hafer, Mildred Roth, Anna Zimmerman, Margaret DeBoeser and William Spatz.
Janet was so blessed to have family that made her life comfortable.
A celebration of Janet's life will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 11:00 am at Christ Little Tulpehocken Church, 40 Church Road, Bernville. A visitation with the family will be held in the church Saturday 10:00 to 11:00 am. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
