Janet F. Wentzel, 84, of Wernersville, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2025 in The Gardens at Stevens. She was the wife of J. Norman Wentzel. They were married November 28, 1959 and celebrated 65 years of marriage.
Born in Garfield, Berks County, she was the daughter of the late Wayne C. and Erma E. (Kalbach) Haas. She was a member of St. John's (Gernant's) Church, Ontelaunee Twp. She worked at local knitting mills, Penn Dale, and Diener's. She later owned and operated her own house cleaning business which she did for approximately 20 years. Janet enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, and traveling- especially on bus trips. She loved to spend time with her family.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons: Brian K. Wentzel, husband of Selina K. (Kerr), Newmanstown, and Kevin M. Wentzel, husband of Paula M. (Palm), Wernersville; a daughter: Sharon K. (Wentzel) Meiser, widow of Randall L. Meiser, Sinking Spring; ten grandchildren: Chad, Stacia, Megan, Jessica, Jereme, Veronica, Molly, Emily, and Joshua; and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: Ethel (Haas) Kerschner, Hamburg, Ronald Haas, Mohrsville, David Haas, Mohnton, Glenn Haas, St. Lawrence, and Linda (Haas) Kerr, Wernersville. She was predeceased by a brother: Wayne Haas, Jr.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 11:00 am from St. John's (Gernant's) Memorial Hall, 13 Gernant's Church Road, Leesport, PA 19533. Burial will follow in St. John's (Gernant's) Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 am in Memorial Hall.
The family requests no flowers, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to: St. John's (Gernant's) Church, at the above address, to support the less fortunate.
