James R. Moyer, 84, of Terre Hill, Lancaster Co., passed away on February 18, 2015 in his residence. He was predeceased by his wife Jean (Williams) Moyer, who died in 1999. Born in West Reading, he was the son of the late Russell and Helen (Prutzman) Moyer. He was a graduate of Hamburg High School. James was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked as a quality control supervisor for Allen Sherman Hoff Company, until his retirement. James was a member of the Evergreen Country Club; Union Fire Company No. 1 Hamburg; National Pigeon Association, and the Chinese Owl Club. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. James had an aviary at his home and was very active with showing pigeons. James is survived by one niece: Dena D. (Moyer), wife of James Weidenhammer, Jr., Windsor Twp.; one nephew: Wade A. Moyer, husband of Julie (Stine) Moyer, Perry Twp.; and two great-nieces: Alyse and Devon. He was predeceased by a brother: Darryl T. Moyer. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial with military honors will follow in Schuylkill Memorial Park (revised location). A visitation with the family will be on Tuesday in the funeral home 10:30 to 11:00 am.
