James N. DeWald, "Murph", 81, of Centre Twp., passed away in his residence on Saturday, September 26, 2015. He was the husband of Janice L. (Reber) DeWald. They were married on April 2, 1960 and celebrated 55 years of marriage. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Harry J. and Mary E. (Allen) DeWald. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Murph worked for Exide Battery Corporation until his retirement. He was a former member of the Centerport Borough Council. Murph enjoyed bike riding, the outdoors, listening to the birds singing and old cars. He was a great uncle. Surviving in addition to his wife are two brothers: Franklin D. DeWald, widower of Deanie, Centre Twp.; and Samuel P. DeWald, husband of Maryann, Bechtelsville; and one sister: Alice E. (DeWald), widow of Charles DeVere, Shillington. Murph is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Services will be held on Wednesday at 12:00 noon from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial will be private. A viewing will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon.
