Irene E. Blatt, 87, of Coopersburg, and formerly of Riverview Park, died Friday, June 7, 2013 in the residence of her daughter Karen with whom she resided. She was the wife of Joseph V. Blatt, died October 20, 1993 Born in Shoemakersville, she was the daughter of the late Adam S. and Edith C. (Houck) Klee. She was a 1944 graduate of Perry High School and a 1946 graduate of McCann's School of Business, Reading. Irene first worked at the Leesport Bank in the late 1940's. She then worked as a secretary for Bachman Foods, Reading; and last worked for Wetterau Foods, Muhlenberg Twp., until retiring in 1988. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Muhlenberg Twp., where she was a former choir member and former officer of the Lutheran Church Women. Irene enjoyed reading and traveling with the Senior Club of Muhlenberg Twp. She was a former choir member at Alsace United Church of Christ. Irene is survived by two daughters: Karen J. (Blatt), wife of David Ickes, of Coopersburg and with whom she resided; and Vicki L. (Blatt), wife of Brad Tuckey, Loysville, Perry Co.; two granddaughters: Melissa J., wife of William Pergine; and Melanie M. Tuckey; and one sister: Ethel M. (Klee), wife of Harold Madeira, residents of Country Meadows, Wyomissing. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday at 12:30 pm from Laureldale Cemetery, Muhlenberg Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 4201 Stoudt's Ferry Bridge Road, Reading, PA 19605.
