Ira E. Lesher, 86, of Perry Twp., died Wednesday, October 24, 2012 in the Reading Hospital where he was taken earlier that day from the Laurel Center, Tilden Twp. He was the husband of Margaret E. (Emore) Lesher, who died October 21, 2008.
Born in Lenhartsville, he was the son of the late Augustus and Addie (Oldt) Lesher. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Ira worked for twenty-seven years as a loader operator for E.J. Breneman, Sinking Spring, until his retirement. He was a member of New Jerusalem Zion United Church of Christ, Krumsville. Ira was also a member of Union Fire Company of Hamburg and beneficial association.
Surviving are two sons: Donald I., husband of Wendy (Hartsoe) Lesher, Allentown; and Brian R., husband of Heidi A. (Berger) Lesher, Centre Twp.; two grandchildren: Todd Lesher, and his wife Lisa; and Heather Lesher; and two great-grandchildren: Logan and Madison Lesher. Ira is also survived by one brother: Marvin Lesher, Reading. He was predeceased by son Donald's first wife: Diane (Arndt) Lesher; and four brothers: Earl, Clarence, Roy and Lester Lesher.
Services will be on Monday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial with military honors will be in New Bethel Zion Cemetery, Grimville.
