Obituary

Herbert G. Wallace, 86, of Perry Twp., died Wednesday, June 20, 2012 in his residence. He was the husband of Marlene M. (Waxwood) Wallace. They were married on February 23, 1951 and celebrated 61 years of marriage. Herbert affectionately called Marlene his "Dolly Girl". Born in Lewisburg, he was the son of the late Oscar E. and Elsie H. (Moyer) Wallace. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a Purple Heart Recipient. Herbert received a degree in criminology from the Pennsylvania Institute of Criminolgy in 1949. He also received a degree in business administration from McCann's School of Business. Herbert worked as a cabinet maker from 1972-1988 for Quaker Maid Kitchens, Leesport. Surviving in addition to his wife are five daughters: Beverly A. (Wallace), wife of Gary Bart, Melbourne, Florida; Melody J. (Wallace), wife of Dale Shade, Shoemakersville; Susan I. (Wallace), wife of Larry E. Metz, Shartlesville; Deanna A. (Wallace), wife of Dean J. Schrawder, Shoemakersville; and Julie L. (Wallace) Burkevage; five grandchildren: Dean Shade, Valerie Schaeffer, Jason Schaeffer, Brock DeLong, and Austin Burkevage; and one sister: Charlotte (Wallace) Kissinger, Hamburg. Herbert was predeceased by a son: Scott H. Wallace; a daughter: Kimberly Ann Wallace; a grandson: Troy Shade; two brothers: William and Russell Wallace; and one sister: Irene Wallace. Services will be on Monday at 10:30 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial with military honors will be in Frieden's Cemetery, Shartlesville. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Sunday 7:00 to 9:00 pm and Monday 9:30 to 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Disabled American Veterans, P.O.
