Herbert A. Greenawalt, 90, of Hamburg, passed away in his residence on Sunday, December 24, 2023. He was the husband of Nancy J. (Daughtry) Greenawalt.

Born in Ontelaunee Twp., he was the son of the late George E. and Emily G. (Gunkle) Greenawalt. Herbert was in the Pennsylvania National Guard for five years; two of those years were active duty. He worked for Carpenter Technology Corporation for 28 years, retiring on January 31, 1995. Herbert was a member of Central Berks Fire Company and Beneficial Association, Centerport.

Surviving in addition to his wife is one son: Keith A. Greenawalt, husband of Daphne, Mt. Joy; two grandchildren: Mallorie, wife of Mike Maddock; and Alex Greenawalt, husband of Amanda; two step-grandchildren: Deanna Berish and Sarena Berish; and six great-grandchildren: Jayden Marshall, Elijah Maddock, Gavin Maddock, Stephen Maddock, Bailey Greenawalt and Avery Greenawalt. Herbert was predeceased by a step-grandson: Zach Berish; brothers: Edwin, William, twin Frank, and Dennis Greenawalt; and sisters: Kathryn Ashley; Doris Sayer; and Elsie Good.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 7:00 pm from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear), with a visitation with the family from 6:00-7:00 pm.
