Harvey C. Stambaugh, "Chick", 90, of Strausstown, passed away in his residence on Sunday, September 22, 2024. He was the husband of Patricia L. (Wilhelm) Stambaugh, who died April 6, 2016.
Born in West Reading, he was the son of the late Edgar A. and Ella A. (Himmelberger) Stambaugh. He was a graduate of Hamburg High School and attended East Stroudsburg University. Chick was a rural newspaper carrier for the Reading Eagle/Times for sixty-five years. He also owned Strausstown Fur Shop until his retirement. Chick was a member of Zion Blue Mountain United Church of Christ, Strausstown. He was an active member of his community and the Strausstown Lions Club and their activities. Chick was a life member of Williamson Lodge 307, Womelsdorf; and member of the Bethel Fire Company; Strausstown Rod and Gun Club; Rajah Shrine; and the Grundsau Lodge. He played baseball in the Robesonia Bethel League; enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing; and was a charter member of Dutch Haven Hunting Camp. Chick especially enjoyed activities with his family.
Chick is survived by his daughters: Sharon K. (Stambaugh), wife of Mike George, Robesonia; Julie M. (Stambaugh), wife of Jeff Newhouse, Bethel; and Amy J. (Stambaugh) Shanaman, Strausstown; six grandchildren: Whitney George Rose, Dru George, Justin Horning, Joel Horning, Jenna Horning and Bree Shanaman; and five great-grandsons: He is also survived by one brother: Dennis A. Stambaugh, Strausstown. Chick was predeceased by his daughter: Kim Y. (Stambaugh) Seyfert, died October 1988; brother: David A. Stambaugh; and sister: Jane A. (Stambaugh) Bubbenmoyer.
Services will be held on Friday at 2:00 pm. at Zion Blue Mountain UCC, 6573 Old Route 22, Strausstown. Burial will follow in Strausstown Cemetery. There will not be a viewing or visitation prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Zion Blue Mountain UCC, P.O.
