Harold A. Spatz, 87, of Centre Twp., passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2023 in his residence. He was the husband of Barbara A. (Jennings) Spatz. They were married May 28, 1976 and celebrated 47 years of marriage.
Born in Penn Twp., he was the son of the late Walter A. and Mae L. (Balthaser) Spatz. He was a member of Salem (Belleman's) Church, Centre Twp. Harold was self-employed. He enjoyed building and developing things, especially a mobile home park in Centre Twp., Irish Creek Village. He began that project in 1983 and worked hard at it until 2022. He had also spent time working as an Operating Engineer. Harold's favorite pastime was trail riding with his niece Rita and friends until the age of 82, and camping and traveling with his wife and family. He greatly enjoyed feeding his Koi fish and watching the sunset on the pond he built on his farm. He had served as a supervisor for Centre Twp., supported local fire companies, and was an active member of Rajah Shrine, and St. John's Lodge No. 435, F&AM. As a member of the Shrine, Harold was very active with the Mounted Patrol and had served as President of Shrine Units.
Surviving in addition to his wife Barbara two daughters: Cathy (Spatz) Phillips, and Teresa (Spatz) Hart; and four sons: Harold, husband of Carol (Hartman) Spatz, Ken, husband of Veronica (Marian) Haines, David, husband of Laura (Lord) Haines, and Mark, husband of Dr. Christin (Murphy) Spatz; fifteen grandchildren: Tracy, wife of Timothy Diehl, Beth Phillips & Frank Pippel, Lisa, wife of Kyle Zerbe, Kelly, wife of William Smith, Renee Phillips, Jonathon, husband of Olga Yeager, Angela Yeager, Cassandra, wife of Timothy Bradbury, Jessica, wife of Michael Brown, Marissa Spatz, Frederico Haines, Corry Haines, Alicia Haines & Peter McLoone, Dylan Spatz, and Bradon Spatz; and twenty three great-grandchildren: Joshua, Grace, Ellen, Lael, Josiah, Julian, Jace, Jeah, Maya, Austin, Gaven, Hannah, Emma, Carter, Victoria, Alexandra, Nicholas, Robert, Jacob, Nathaniel, Henly, Lindy, and Mitchell. He is also survived by his close friends: Dennis & Sally Greth, and Tarzan Hall. He was predeceased by three brothers: Walter (Allie) Spatz, William Spatz, and Howard Spatz; and two sisters: Dorothy Spatz, and Glenna (Spatz) Hix.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 11:00 am from Salem (Belleman's) Church, 3540 Belleman's Church Road, Mohrsville, PA 19541. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tilden Twp. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 am in the church. A Masonic Lodge service will be held during the viewing.
