Harold M. Kauffman, 78, of Ruscombmanor Twp., died Tuesday, November 21, 2017 in Reading Hospital and Medical Center. He was the husband of Mary Lou (Christman) Kauffman. They were married August 29, 1959 and celebrated 58 years of marriage.
Born on the family farm in Upper Bern Twp., he was the son of the late H. Milton and Mabel (Stoudt) Kauffman. He was a member of St. Michael's Church, Tilden Twp. He graduated from Hamburg High School in 1956. Harold was a US Air Force veteran, having served 2 years in Turkey. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Penn State University in 1963; and later a Master's Degree from Ohio State in 1965.He worked as a telecommunications electrical engineer for Bell Labs, Columbus, OH for 20 years and Telcordia Technologies, Red Bank, NJ for 13 years before his retirement. Harold was a member of the Penn State Alumni Association. He was an avid Penn State Football fan. He enjoyed being with his two grandsons, golfing, hunting, trout fishing, and the outdoors. He was fortunate to have a loving and devoted wife and two great sons that he was very proud of. He had a happy family and they had a wonderful life together.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons: Keith J., husband of Michelle S. (Seward) Kauffman, Manalapan, NJ; and Kevin J., husband of Jennifer J. (Domorski) Kauffman, Pittsburgh; two grandsons: Devon R. and Justin J. Kauffman; a sister: Gloria (Kauffman) wife of Rodney Ruth, Allendale, NJ; two sister-in-laws: Gloria Christman, Wayne, PA, and Barbara Christman, Cincinnati, OH. He is also survived by his faithful companion: Maddie.
Services will be held Friday, November 24, 2017 at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (Off-Street Parking in Rear). Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tilden Twp. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 am in the funeral home.
