Harold J. Derr, 99, formerly of Perry Twp., passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, February 16, 2024 in Keystone Villa of Fleetwood, where he resided. He was the husband of Esther L. (Hill) Derr, who passed away June 4, 2019.
Born in Upper Macungie Twp., Lehigh Co., he was the son of the late Sadie E.S. (Smith) Derr. Harold was a proud U.S. Marine Corp veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He worked as an electrician for twenty years for Buck Electric, Reading, until retiring in 1989. Harold was an active member of Zion's Church, Windsor Castle, where he served as an elder, taught adult Sunday school and catechetical classes, and was president of the Sunday School. He was a member of Vaux Lodge #406 F&AM, Hamburg; and the Marine Corp League, where he collected Toys For Tots.
Harold is survived by his two daughters: Dorian (Derr), wife of Daniel Fetherolf, Jr., Wyomissing; and Lisa (Derr), wife of Dr. Robert Lippman, Richmond, Virginia; four grandchildren: Daniel Fetherolf, III, husband of Jennifer Weller; Jenna Hill; Jason Lippman, husband of DeAnna; and Lori (Lippman), wife of Adis Ljubovic; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 11:00 am at Zion's Church, 770 Zion's Church Road, Hamburg, PA 19526. A visitation with the family will precede the service beginning at 10:00 am. Burial with military honors will follow the service in Zion's Cemetery.
