Harold M. Billman, 86, of Tilden Twp., died Friday, May 10, 2013 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center. He was the husband of Betty M. (Kline) Billman.
Born in West Hamburg, he was the son of the late Henry S. and Sarah A. (Kunkleman) Billman. He attended Hamburg School District until the 10th grade. Harold was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He worked as a communication specialist for Con-rail in Reading for 38 years, last working December 1988. Harold was a member of Union Fire Co. No. 1 of Hamburg and Beneficial Association, and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Harold was instrumental in helping to start and organize the Hamburg American Legion Ambulance Service, and he volunteered at ManorCare in Laureldale for 13 years. He enjoyed to travel, and watch the Phillies, Flyers, and Royals.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two children: a daughter Linda A. (Billman) wife of Todd Rowlands, Hamburg, a son Gary L. husband of Mary Lee (Schneider) Billman, Shoemakersville, nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Harold was predeceased by a brother Wayne F. Billman, and a sister Ruth E. (Billman) Marks.
Services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc. 65 S. 4th Street Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery.
