Grace Elizabeth Phillips, "Betty", 88, of Centre Twp., died Tuesday, April 1, 2014 in St. Joseph Medical Center shortly after arrival. She was the wife of Paul S. Phillips. They were married on April 6, 1946 and would have celebrated their sixty-eighth wedding anniversary on Sunday. Born in Perry Twp., she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Florence (Mengel) Stoudt. Grace first worked for the Crown Knitting Mill, Mohrsville. She then worked in the cafeterias of the Schuylkill Valley School District. Grace was a member of Salem (Belleman's) Church, Centre Twp. She enjoyed going to sales, collecting ceramic chickens and figurines, quilting, puzzles, and shopping at Boscov's for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Grace was a great cook and housekeeper. She was active in helping her husband on the family farm and feeding the turkeys. Surviving in addition to her husband are four sons: James P. Phillips, at home; David L. Phillips, husband of Robin (Spatz) Phillips, Centre Twp.; Larry E. Phillips, husband of Cathy (Spatz) Phillips, Centre Twp.; and Luke C. Phillips, husband of Patricia (Smith) Phillips, Windsor Twp.; ten grandchildren: Tracey, Beth, Lisa, Kelly, Renee, Amy, Laura, Sarah, Holly and Jacob; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one brother: Richard Stoudt, widower of Anna, Muhlenberg Twp. Grace was predeceased by a granddaughter: Rachel Phillips. Services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am from Salem (Belleman's) Church, Centre Twp. Burial will follow in Fairview (Belleman's) Cemetery, Centre Twp. A visitation with the family will be held on Monday from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport and Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the church.
