Grace E. Bowers, 97, formerly of Tilden Twp., passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at the Lutheran Home at Topton where she resided. She was the wife of Alvin J. Bowers, who died on September 19, 1997.

Born in Hamburg, she was the daughter of the late Howard S. and Sallie E. (Dunkel) Hartman. Grace worked as a sewing machine operator for ten years for Crown Knitting Mill, Mohrsville. She was also a demonstrator for Stanley Home Products. Grace was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hamburg. She enjoyed taking care of her house.

Grace is survived by one son: Dennis J. Bowers, husband of Louise (Werley) Bowers, Upper Bern Twp.; two daughters: Myrna I. (Bowers), wife of Albert Arsenault, New Egypt, New Jersey; and Bernice B. "Bonnie" (Bowers), wife of Robert Rissmiller, Tilden Twp.; eight grandchildren: Steve Correll, Rick Adams, Ty Rissmiller, Dean Rissmiller, Darrin Rissmiller, Jill (Rissmiller) Collins, Stacey (Bowers) Header, and Mindy (Bowers) Facciolli; fifteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister-in-law: Esther Hartman, Tilden Twp. Grace was predeceased by a daughter: Shirley G. (Bowers) Adams; a grandson: Timothy Correll; and her brothers and sisters.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Hamburg.
