Gladys C. Bailey, 94, of Hamburg, died Saturday, December 9, 2017 in Weston Senior Living, Orwigsburg. She was the wife of the late Howard J. "Boy" Bailey. Born in Strausstown, she was the daughter of the late Walter M. and Mabel (Huoncker) Christ. She graduated from Hamburg High School in 1941. Gladys attended Zion (Blue Mountain) United Church of Christ, Strausstown. She first worked at the Pasadena Independent Newspaper, California and later as a telephone operator at the former General Battery, Hamburg until her retirement. Gladys will be remember as always keeping busy, and always being a hard worker. She enjoyed playing tennis, crafts, ceramics, embroidery, and sewing, as well as baking and quilting. Gladys is survived by a sister: Madelyn V. (Christ) Pfister, New York City, New York; and a niece: Susan A. (Jeffrey) Reiner, Glendale, California. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, January 13, 2017 at 10:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street Hamburg (off-street parking in rear).
