his side. He was the loving husband of Leslie A. (Lyons) DiMaio. They
were married on February 26, 1991, and celebrated thirty-three years of
marriage.
Born in Carini Palermo, Sicily, he was the son of the late Antonio and
Rosaria (Addalli) DiMaio. Jack came to America when he was 23 years
old in pursuit of the America Dream. He began working as a laborer
installing concrete swimming pools and tile. At the age of 26, he opened
his first of many Italian restaurants. In his pursuit of success, he led
many other family members and friends to pursue their American Dream.
He was so proud to become a U.S. Citizen on December 19, 2001. Jack
was determined and put his heart and endless energy into everything he
was passionate about. Many of you will remember his smile from behind
the counter at Jack D's in Hamburg for 17 1/2 years or at DiMaio's
Mustard Seed, Orwigsburg opened in 2005 ~ Present. At DiMaios in
Orwigsburg, Jack worked alongside his children Jack, John, Jaclyn and
GianLuca where he taught them all the most valuable lessons of life. He
left behind a beautiful legacy that his children hope to carry on in his
name. Jack was a member of St. Ambrose Church, Schulkill Haven. In
his younger years, Jack enjoyed playing the drums and bowling. He also
loved dancing and taking care of his plants and garden.
Surviving in addition to his wife Leslie are his children: Giacomo
DiMaio, Jr., husband of Katerina, Schuylkill Haven; Giovanni DiMaio,
husband of Alicia; Jaclyn DiMaio; and GianLuca DiMaio, all of Orwigsburg;
and Rosaria (DiMaio) Silva; Daniela (DiMaio) Caiazzo; Antonio DiMaio;
and Anna (DiMaio) Luongo. Jack is also survived by his sister: Maria
Mandreucci, Sicily; and several nieces and nephews. He was
predeceased by his siblings: Battista, Conchetta, Pietro and Pino.
