Gerald N. Scheipe, 80, of Ontelaunee Twp., died Tuesday, February 26, 2013 in St. Joseph Medical Center. He was the husband of Eleanor E. (Katzenmoyer) Scheipe. They were married on August 16, 1958 and celebrated 54 years of marriage. Born in Reading on February 10, 1933, he was the son of the late Norman J. and Grace H. (Trout) Scheipe. He was a 1950 graduate of Reading High School. Gerald was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked as a pattern maker for S.R. Schlegel; and then for O.Z. Gedney, Perry Twp., retiring in 1993. Gerald was a member of Faith Evangelical Congregational Church, Temple. Gerald was an avid hunter for many years. He was a member of White Oaks Hunting Club. Surviving in addition to his wife are four sons: Gary Norman Scheipe, husband of Donna Lynne (Springer) Scheipe; and Glenn Steven Scheipe, husband of Patricia Lynn (Engle) Scheipe, both of Mohnton; Gregg Brian Scheipe, at home; and Brad Andrew Scheipe, husband of Tabatha (Pinder) Scheipe, Leesport; three grandchildren: Kelsey Lyn Scheipe; Olivia Mae Scheipe; and Dylan Andrew Scheipe; and one great-granddaughter: Jordyn Leigh Scheipe. Gerald is also survived by a sister: Madelyn Caroline (Scheipe), wife of Robert R. Thomas, Reading. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, March 6 at 4:00 pm from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport.
