George W. Kunkle, 95, of Tilden Twp., passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2026 in his residence. He was the husband of the late Melrose V. (Steffey) Kunkle, died March 22, 2019.

Born in Centre Twp., he was the son of the late George A. and Vertie (Shollenberger) Kunkle. He graduated from Hamburg High School in 1949. George was a member of Salem (Belleman's) Church, Centre Twp. He worked for many years as an inspector at Carpenter Technology, retiring in 1993. Throughout his life, George worked on his family's farm; and owned it from 1967-1982. He enjoyed hunting, square dancing, traveling, and playing cards.

He is survived by his children: Gary G. Kunkle, husband of Jaclyn, Mohrsville; Dennis P. Kunkle, husband of Donna, Tilden Twp.; and Rosanne M. Kunkle, Mohrsville; seven grandchildren: Tara Beerman, wife of Kris; Dustin Kunkle; Cory Kunkle, husband of Teri; Kyle Kunkle, husband of Megan; Joshua Dietrich, husband of Amanda; Cody Dietrich; and Desira (Kunkle) Rickenbach, wife of Randy; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street Leesport, PA 19533. Burial will follow in St. Luke's Cemetery, Shoemakersville. Viewings will be held Wednesday, May 27, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm; and Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the funeral home.
