Gene N. Hartman, 79, of Hamburg, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2014 in Orwigsburg Center. He was the husband of Armistine A. (Correll) Hartman. They shared fifty years together and were married on September 11, 2011.
Born in Hamburg, he was the son of the late Nevin S. and Lovina M. (Greenawald) Hartman. Gene was a U.S. Army veteran. He first worked for ASH Pump Company, Hamburg for twelve years; and then for Fry Well Drilling, Perry Twp. Gene then worked for twelve years for Rockwell International, Wyomissing, for twelve years, retiring in 1990. He worked part-time as a park attendant at Kaercher Creek Park, Windsor Twp.; and last worked for the Borough of Hamburg as a crossing guard at the corner of South Fourth and Pine Streets.
Gene was a life member of the Shartlesville and Lenhartsville Fish and Game Associations. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved the mountains. Gene was a very loving husband and father.
Surviving in addition to his wife is one son: Glenn C. Muntz, Hamburg; one sister: Mildred R. (Hartman), wife of Edwin M. Bachman, Richmond Twp.; four nieces and one nephew. Gene will be missed by his pet parrot Oscar. He was predeceased by a brother: Ralph Hartman.
