Frederick D. "Fred" Harrison, 73, of Ontelaunee Twp., passed away Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet, SC, while on a trip. He was the husband of Jane F. (Korpics) Harrison; they were married November 27, 1982, and celebrated 43 years together.
Born in Phillipsburg, NJ, Fred was the son of the late Frank and Dorothy (Tice) Harrison. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy. Fred worked as a truck driver for R.W. Eaken, Inc. (now Brenntag) for 25 years until his retirement, where he served as shop steward. He was also a longtime member of Teamsters Local No. 429, where he served as a trustee.
Fred never sat still, and to him, there were no strangers, only friends he hadn't met yet. He had a gift for making people feel loved, and his big heart had room for everyone. He loved riding his motorcycle and taking long trips on his bike, hunting, spending time at his cabin, and traveling to favorite spots like St. Maarten and Myrtle Beach. He loved his tractor, took pride in his woodworking, and was famous in the family for hunting down the biggest Christmas tree he could find, the kind that scraped the ceiling. But more than anything, Fred loved his family. He showed it by always being there, by dropping everything when someone needed him, and by making sure every person in his life, family, friend, or stranger-turned-friend, knew they mattered to him.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons: Gregory F. Harrison, husband of Amanda L. (Hoffman), of Leesport, and Frederick D. Harrison, Jr., of Easton; two daughters: Danelle M. (Harrison) Smith, wife of Ford G., of Hamburg, and Bridget E. (Harrison) Price, wife of Drew R., of Schuylkill Haven; and six grandchildren: Caine, Nolan, Makenna, Luke, Vivian, and Wyatt.
A celebration of Fred's life will be held Friday, May 22, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport, PA 19533. Burial will follow at Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. The celebration will be casual and upbeat, just the way Fred would want it. The family warmly invites and encourages anyone who feels comfortable to stand up during the service and share a memory, a story, or a moment with Fred. Every story matters, and hearing them together is how we honor him best. In honor of Fred's love of the open road, those with motorcycles are also encouraged to ride them to the service.
