Franklin G. Schappell, 91, of Perry Twp., passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2025. He was husband of the late Ruth G. (Reppert) Schappell, died July 31, 2019.

Born in Perry Twp., he was the son of the late James and Edna (Sunday) Schappell. He graduated from Perry High School in 1952; and was a member of Zion's Church, Perry Twp. Franklin was a US Army veteran. He worked for many years at Berks Packing operating a chopper and making Berks Hot Dogs; retiring in 1996. He enjoyed hunting, farming, gardening, and all types of sports. He was very faithful reading the bible. Franklin worked for many years on Zion's Cemetery, assisting with maintenance.

Franklin is survived by three sons: Rodney F. Schappell, Cumru Twp.; Dennis J. Schappell, husband of Lisa (Simmons), Centre Twp.; and Gregory C. Schappell, husband of Tulsa (Hosmer), Shoemakersville; three daughters: Denise E. Schappell; Perry Twp.; Brenda R. (Schappell) Zellers, Hamburg; and Patti E. (Schappell) Cahill, wife of Dale Cahill, Geneva, OH; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a niece and a nephew. Franklin was predeceased by his twin daughters: Lori L. and Dori A. Schappell; a sister: Dorothy (Schappell) Bankes; and a niece.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at 11:00 am from Zion's Church, 770 Zion Church Road, Hamburg, PA 19526. Burial will follow in Zion's Cemetery, Perry Twp. A viewing will be held in the church from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Hamburg is in charge of arrangements.
