Obituary

Forrest A. Blatt, "Woodie", 83, of South Heidelberg Twp., passed away in his residence on Tuesday, July 9, 2024. He was the husband of Edna N. (Weitzel) Blatt. They were married on March 14, 1964 and celebrated sixty years of marriage.

Born in West Reading, he was the son of the late W. John and Esther C. (Olinger) Blatt. Forrest was a 1959 graduate of Schuylkill Valley High School. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran during the Vietnam Conflict. Forrest worked for thirty years for Met-Ed, retiring as a supervisor in 1996. He was a member of Epler's Church. He was a member of the former Trinity United Church of Christ, Leesport, where he was on the consistory, a deacon, choir member, treasurer of the church, and adult Sunday School teacher. Forrest was a 60-year member and former officer of Ontelaunee Grange #1617. He was also a member of the State and National Grange. Forrest was a member of the Leesport Cemetery Board of Trustees, serving as president for twenty years and currently caretaker. He was a well-known bowler; scored several 300 games; and rolled in thirty consecutive national tournaments. He had also enjoyed playing softball.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his daughters: Leslie E. (Blatt), wife of Jeffrey Schucker, Kempton; Sharon L. (Blatt), wife of Richard London, Danielsville, Northampton Co.; and Andrea L. (Blatt), wife of Martin Stone, Wyomissing; six grandchildren; and two great-grandsons. Forrest was predeceased by his brother: Warren J. Blatt.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 11:00 am at Epler's Church, 1151 W. Leesport Road, Leesport, PA 19533. Burial will follow in Leesport Cemetery. A visitation with the family will be held in the church, Saturday, July 20, 2024 from 9:30 to 11:00 am.
