Evelyn E. Shade, 82, formerly of Shartlesville, died Friday, January 24, 2014 in the Laurel Center, Tilden Twp. She was the wife of Merritt C. Shade, who died August 29, 2004. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Alma E. (Kline) Beissel. Evelyn worked as a sewing machine operator for twenty-eight years for Glo-Ray Knitting Mill, Robesonia until 1989. She then worked at the Laurel Center as a certified nursing assistant until 1992. Evelyn is survived by two sons: Larry M. Shade, and his wife Dianna, Hamburg; and Dale A. Shade, and his wife Melody, Shoemakersville; three grandsons; and one great-granddaughter. She is also survived by two brothers: Leroy P. Kline, Fleetwood and James H. Beissel, Reading; and three sisters: Myrtle L. Brown, Birdsboro; Ruth E. Calhoun, Reading; and Dorothy J. Reazor, Reading. Evelyn was predeceased by three brothers: Arthur, John, and George Beissel; and a sister: Susan Cohen. Services will be held on Friday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial will follow in St. John's (Gernant's) Cemetery, Ontelaunee Twp.
