Ethel M. Casper, 92, of Longview, Texas and formerly of Hamburg, died Tuesday, December 18, 2012 in Good Shepherd Medical Center, Longview, Texas. She was the wife of the late Harold C. Casper. Born in Hamburg, she was the daughter of the late Charles R. and Susan E. (Miller) Berger. She was a 1939 graduate of Hamburg High School. Ethel also graduated for the New York Beauty School in Pottsville; and the Robert Finance Styling School in New York City. She owned and operated Casper's Beauty Shoppe in Hamburg from 1940 until December 31, 1981. Ethel was a member of First United Church of Christ, Hamburg, where she was president of the altar guild. She was also a former president of Hearthstone Circle; and past president and treasurer of Behler-Hein Post #637 American Legion Auxiliary in Hamburg. Ethel also served three terms as president of the former Business and Professional Women in Hamburg. Ethel was predeceased by three brothers: Lewis R. Berger; Harold L. Berger; and Henry A. Berger. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 11:00 am in Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Hamburg. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Hamburg. A visitation will be held in the funeral home Saturday 10:30 to 11:00 am.
