Esther M. Seaman, 90, of Tilden Twp., died Thursday, October 6, 2011 in Berks Heim, Bern Twp., where she resided for the past two months. She was the wife of Mark S. Seaman. They were married on August 29, 1942 and celebrated 69 years of marriage.
Born in Upper Bern Twp., she was the daughter of the late Albert B. and Lila L. (Adams) Brobst. Esther worked life-long as a sewing machine operator, first for Burkey Underwear Company, then Windsor Knitting Mill, and last for Hamburg Knitting Mill, until retiring in 1984. She was a member of St. Michael's Church, Tilden Twp. Esther was an active member of the Blue Mt. Senior Citizens, Shartlesville, where she volunteered in the kitchen.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons: Donald M. Seaman, and his wife Jill, of Dauphin; and Ronald M. Seaman, and his wife Holly, of Shartlesvillle; two grandchildren: Adrian D. Seaman, Kutztown; and Joanna L. Seaman, Enola; and two great-grandchildren: Wesley and Jorjanne. Esther was predeceased by two brothers: Paul and James Brobst; and one sister: Marion A. (Brobst) Graff.
Services will be on Monday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Hamburg (off street parking in rear) with Rev. Paul E. Buzzard officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tilden Twp. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Monday 10:00 to 11:00 am.
