Emily K. Haag, 91, of Centre Twp., died Saturday, January 4, 2014 in Berks Heim. She was the wife of Roscoe S. Haag. They were married on November 25, 1944 and celebrate 69 years of marriage.
Born in Tilden Twp., she was the daughter of the late Clayton and Alvesta (Stetzler) Strausser. She was a 1940 graduate of Hamburg High School. Emily worked as a cafeteria cook for the Bern Elementary School. She was a member of St. Michael's Church, Tilden Twp., where she was a member of the Ladies Aide Society. Emily was also a member of Shoemakersville Senior Citizens, Centerport Flower Club, Central Berks Fire Company and beneficial association, and the former Centerport Grange.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons: Dennis R., husband of Betty (Schrack) Haag, Tilden Twp.; and David A., husband of Mary (Moyer) Haag, Centre Twp.; one daughter: Linda Haag Fritz, wife of Robert Fritz, Murfreesboro, TN; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Emily was predeceased by two sisters: Pearl Stitzel and Thelma Fox.
Services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am from St. Michael's Church, 529 St. Michael's Road, Hamburg, PA 19526. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tilden Twp. A viewing will be held in the church Wednesday 9:30 to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Michael's Church Memorial Fund at the above address.
