Obituary

Elsie J. Dougherty, 87, formerly of Perry Twp., died Thursday, May 3, 2012 in Lancaster Regional Hospital where she was a patient for one day. She was taken there from Oak Leaf Manor, Landisville, where she resided. Her husband, Norman P. Dougherty, died October 4, 2001.

Born in Centre Twp., she was the daughter of the late Franklin M. and Sallie M. (Kauffman) Bagenstose. She worked as a head cook for the Hamburg School District. Elsie was a member of St. Michael's Church, Tilden Twp.

Surviving are two sons: Lynn F. Dougherty, and his wife Tami, Perry Twp.; and Philip C. Dougherty, Greenwich Twp.; daughter-in-law: Sharon A. (Graeff) Dougherty, Rapho Twp; seven grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister: Esther M. (Bagenstose) Kieffer, Upper Tulpehocken Twp. Elsie was predeceased by a son: David A. Dougherty, died September 25, 2010; and several brothers and sisters.

Services will be on Tuesday at 1:30 pm from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear) with Rev. Paul E. Buzzard officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tilden Twp. A viewing will be held on Tuesday 12:00 noon to 1:30 pm.
