Edward W. Lutz, Jr., 82, of Upper Tulpehocken Twp., passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 in his residence. He was the husband of Hope F. (Krell) Lutz. They were married on February 2, 1955 and celebrated sixty-two years of marriage.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Edward W., Sr. and Katie M. (Degler) Lutz. Eddie owned and operated Lutz's Oil Burner Service from 1981 to 2015. Prior to that, he worked for Franklin Kirst in Hamburg. Eddie was a member of Frieden's Lutheran Church, Shartlesville. He is also a member of Loyal Order of Moose #523, Hamburg; Shartlesville Fire Company; Strausstown Fire Company; Goodwill Fire Company; Berks County Patriots; and a Golden Eagle member of the National Rifle Association. Eddie enjoyed NASCAR.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children: Gregory Scott Lutz, husband of Patty D. (Miller) Lutz, Leesport; and Cindy K. (Lutz), wife of Jack Hillman, Upper Tulpehocken Twp.; one granddaughter: Katie Hillman, and her companion Steve Williams; and one great-granddaughter: Amber. Eddie will be missed by his faithful companion: Rocko.
Services will be held on Monday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial will follow in Strausstown Cemetery. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Sunday 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Monday 10:00 to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Frieden's Church, P.O.
