Dorothy M. Speirs, 58, of Centre Twp., died Sunday, June 5, 2011 at 5:09 am in St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Twp., where she was a patient since May 15. She was the wife of Kenneth L. Speirs. They were married on January 24, 1981 and celebrated 30 years of marriage. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of Florence E. (Arndt) Bailey, Mohrsville; and the late Clarence P. Bailey. Dorothy was a 1971 graduate of Hamburg Area High School and a 1974 graduate of Reading Hospital School of Nursing. She worked for 30 years in nursing from 1974-2004; and last worked for St. Joseph Medical Center until February of 2004. Dorothy was a member of Bethany E.C. Church, Leesport. She was a member of the Reading Hospital School of Alumni. Dorothy enjoyed horseback riding and loved her dog Jackie. Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are two sons: Joshua P.L., husband of Stephanie A. (Frymoyer) Speirs, Womelsdorf; and Jonathan B. Speirs, at home; and one brother: Clarence C. Bailey, Promise City, Iowa. Services will be on Friday at 10:30 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear).
