Dorothy I. Geschwindt, 80, of Perry Twp., died Friday, January 18, 2013 in Berks Heim, Bern Twp., where she resided for three and a half years. She was the wife of Clifford S. Geschwindt, died March 23, 1988. Dorothy was the daughter of the late Emerson E. and Helen I. (Haas) Wert. She was a 1950 graduate of the former Perry High School and graduated from McCann's School of Business, Reading. Dorothy worked as an office manager for thirty years for Mayfair Industries, Shoemakersville. She last worked for two years for ShurFine Food Market, Shoemakersville. Dorothy was a member of Salem-Berne United Methodist Church, Tilden Twp., where she was a former choir member and treasurer. She was a former volunteer at the Hamburg Center. Dorothy was a member of the "Melodiers" singing group and would perform in different variety shows including the Perry PTO shows. Dorothy is survived by a sister: Dolores J. (Wert) Younker, Perry Twp.; and two brothers: Elmer E. Wert, Laureldale; and Richard D., husband of Patricia A. (Miller) Wert, Muhlenberg Twp. She is also survived by her God-daughter: Bonnie M. (Wert) Miller, New Ringold; seven nephews and three nieces. Services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am from Salem-Berne U.M. Church, 292 Salem Church Road, Hamburg, PA 19526. Burial will follow in adjoining cemetery. A viewing will be held at the church Tuesday 9:30 to 11:00 am.
