Dorothy M. Dunkle, "Dottie", 97, of Hamburg, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 in the Laurel Center, Tilden Twp., where she resided since March 2011. Her husband, Samuel F. Dunkle, died November 23, 1988.
Born in Hamburg, she was the daughter of the late Herbert A. and Clara M. (Burkey) Miller. She was a 1932 graduate of Hamburg High School. Dorothy worked as a telephone operator for twenty-one years for Bell Telephone, until her retirement. She was a member of First United Church of Christ, Hamburg, where she was secretary and treasurer of the Hearthstone Circle. She also volunteered at the Hamburg Senior Center.
Surviving are seven nephews: William and Phillip Dalious; Richard, James, and David Biehl; and David and Larry Dunkle; and two nieces: Dawn Daberry and Sandy Turnage. Dorothy was predeceased by two sisters: Ruth A. (Miller) Dalious and Mae A. (Miller) Biehl.
Services will be on Monday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Hamburg.
