Donna K. Hinkle, 64, of Mohrsville, PA, passed away quietly on the morning of September 22nd, with her older sister Diana Cochran by her side.

Donna was born in Tampa, Florida, on August 16th, 1963, to Mildred and Eugene Mautz. She spent her early years in the Sunshine State and across the south before moving to Pennsylvania. Despite coming from a favorite vacation destination of many, after meeting her husband, Rick, Donna found her lifelong home in the hills of Berks County, Pennsylvania. Not one to be easily defined, Donna wore many hats over the years. She worked as a bartender, a cross-country truck driver alongside her beloved husband, a caretaker in assisted living facilities, a legal secretary, and a devoted stay-at-home mother raising her daughter, Caryn. Donna was a sounding board and trusted ear for many. As those close to her knew well, she would tell you exactly how it was and likely give you a bit of "the business." Her advice was blunt, straight to the point, and often exactly what you needed to hear just in time to get your life together. Some of her favorite pastimes included taking in wayward children (and adults), watching procedural dramas (Law & Order being a special favorite), and holding court from her throne (the recliner) surrounded by friends, family, and dogs. She will be remembered for both her tenacity and compassion. She interceded at the crossroads of many lives to send them spinning in the right direction (and some of you probably still owe her bail money).

Donna is survived by her husband of 39 years, Rick Hinkle; her daughter, Caryn Arndt (son-in-law, William Arndt); and her granddaughter, Penelope Arndt. She also leaves behind her sister, Diana Cochran; her brothers, Maximilian Mautz and Grant Mautz; and four nieces and nephews: Corine Mautz-Burnett, Tina Vonderhofen, Angela Daddario, and Mathew Mautz. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Eugene Mautz; her brothers, Edwin Mautz and Butch Mautz; and many other beloved friends and pets.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to The Animal Rescue League of Berks County. The family invites you to share your favorite memories of Donna with them in celebration of her life.
