Donald E. Yerger, 78, of Perry Twp., died Thursday July 18 in his residence. He was the husband of Florence M. (Hartman) Yerger, they were married on August 11, 1956 and celebrated 56 years of marriage.
Born in Berne, he was the son of the late Howard M. Yerger, Sr. and Florence M. (Leibensperger) Yerger. Donald was a member of St. Luke's Church, Shoemakersville, and worked for Carpenter Technology as a steel worker. Donald enjoyed camping, traveling, fishing, and hunting, and was a member of the Shoemakersville Fire Co.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter: Stephanie A. (Yerger) wife of Arthur Smith, Perry Twp., two grandchildren: Troy Smith and Tiffany Schaner, four great grandchildren: Anastasia, Colby, McKenzie, and Natalie. Donald is also survived by three brothers: Richard Yerger, Schuylkill County, Larry Yerger, Windsor Twp., and Howard Yerger, Sr., Ephrata, and one sister: Mary Lou (Yerger) Lord wife of Lynn Lord, Wachulla, Florida.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, July 23 at 11:00 A.M. from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc. 223 Peach Street, Leesport, Pa 19533. Burial will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens. A visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday from 9:30 to 11:00 A.M.
