Obituary

Donald A. Weaver, 76, of Centerport, died Saturday, March 24, 2012 in St. Joseph Medical Center. He was the husband of Janet C. (Shollenberger) Weaver. They were married on October 10, 1959 and celebrated 52 years of marriage.

Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Oscar N. and Florence (Van Blargan) Weaver. Donald was a 1953 graduate of Ontelaunee High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Donald first worked as a floor supervisor for Diener Knitting Mill. He then worked as a salesman for Shollenberger Farm Supplies in Centerport. For thirty years, Donald was a self-employed farm and veterinarian supply dealer.

He was a member of Salem (Belleman's) Church, Centre Twp., where he was a former member of the church consistory. Donald was the leader of the Rhinelanders German Band for 45 years. He played trombone in the Belleman's Church Orchestra for 50 years; and was a member of the Rajah String Band. Donald was a member of Vaux Lodge #406 F. & A.M., Hamburg; member of the Reading Consistory; and the Rajah Shrine. He was a charter member of the Central Berks Fire Company and beneficial association, Centerport; a member of the Patriotic Order Sons of America #446, Centerport; and a member of the Evergreen Country Club. Donald especially loved his garden.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons: Mark S., husband of Christine M. (Adler) Weaver, Muhlenberg Twp.; and Andrew J., husband of Donna (Stetzler) Weaver, Cape Coral, Florida; and three grandchildren: Jonathan, Olivia, and Madison. Donald was predeceased by two brothers: Gerald Werner and Ronald Weaver.

Services will be on Saturday, March 31, at 11:30 am from Salem (Belleman's) Church, 3540 Belleman's Church Road, Mohrsville, PA 19541 with Rev. Bruce W. Potteiger officiating. Burial will be in Fairview (Belleman's) Cemetery, Centre Twp. A viewing will be held at the church Saturday 9:30 to 11:30 am. Vaux Masonic Lodge service will be held at 11:15 am.
