Donald E. Roth, 83, of Shoemakersville, died Sunday, January 12, 2014 in Reading Health Rehabilitation Hospital. He was the husband of Doris E. (Wagner) Roth, who died August 15, 2004.
Born in Shoemakersville, he was the son of the late John D. and Elsie M. (Dengler) Roth. Donald first worked for fourteen years for Wolfe Dye and Bleach, Perry Twp., and was the life-long owner and operator of Donald E. Roth Hauling and Excavating in Shoemakersville. Donald was a member of St. Luke's Church, Shoemakersville, where he was a member of the Union Board and Lutheran Council. He was president of St. Luke's Cemetery; president of Shoemakersville Sewer Authority; and a life member of the Shoemakersville Fire Company. Donald was active in his community. He was a member of the Shoemakersville-Leesport Rotary Club and a recipient of their Service Above Self Award. Donald enjoyed spending time with his family and was cherished by his friends. He was a hard worker and an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Donald is survived by his children: Barry E. Roth, husband of Julie; Kay L., wife of Barry Bennecoff; and Cindy L.R., wife of Chris Ott, all of Shoemakersville; six grandchildren: Jason Bennecoff, and wife Beth; Jeremiah Roth; Jaime Bennecoff, fiancé of Tom Dearolf; Ferrol Billowitch, wife of William; Collin Peters and Blaise Peters; and three great-granddaughters: Ella, Adysen and Reise. He is also survived by a sister: Verna M. Bubbenmoyer, of The Villages, Florida; and his friend: Augusta M. Weiss, Shoemakersville. He was predeceased by a brother: John W. Roth. Donald will be missed by his grand-dogs.
Services will be held on Friday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial will follow in St. Luke's Cemetery, Perry Twp. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Thursday 6:00 to 9:00 pm and Friday 10:00 to 11:00 am.
