Dennis F. Rickenbach, aka "Ricky" or "Tom", 76, of Upper Bern Twp., passed away in his residence on Friday, August 22, 2014. He was the husband of Barbara A. (Blatt) Rickenbach. They were married on August 28, 1997 and would have been married for seventeen years.
Born in Leesport, he was the son of the late Carl and Elsie (Adam) Rickenbach. Dennis first worked construction for A.T. Consoli, Donald Latshaw, Stanley Driesbach, and Donald Roth. He then worked for twenty years for Carpenter Technology until retiring in 1999. Dennis last worked as a crossing guard for eight years for Upper Bern Township. He was a former firefighter and fire truck driver for Leesport Fire Company. Dennis was also a firefighter for Shoemakersville Fire Company, where he drove fire truck for twenty-two years and was chief engineer for ten years. He was a former vice-president of the Shoemakersville Fire Company social quarters.
Surviving in addition to his wife is one daughter: Patricia A. (Rickenbach), wife of Christopher Kissinger, Shoemakersville; one son: Kevin L. Rickenbach, and his wife Denise, Hamburg; one step-daughter: Hannah P. Schade, companion of David Hoke, Shartlesville; and one step-son: George H. Schade, and his wife Debbie. Dennis is also survived by four grandsons: Randy Rickenbach, Logan Rickenbach, Ryan Konnick, and Justin Schade; two granddaughters: Lauren Flamm and Kassandra Hoke; two great-grandsons: Ogden and Ian; and one sister: Faye (Rickenbach), wife of Edward Shuman, Carlsbad, New Mexico. He was predeceased by a step-son: Michael L. Schade; one brother: Ronald Rickenbach; and one sister: Alva C. (Rickenbach) Hafer.
Services will be held on Friday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport, PA 19533. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Bernville.
