They last resided together at the Lutheran Home at Topton (EverTrue) and shared not only 70 years of marriage but nearly a lifetime of friendship, growing up together in Coopersburg, PA from the time of attending grade school. They lived in several places in Pennsylvania including Claysburg (Blair County), Shamokin Dam (Synder County), Bainbridge (Lancaster County), then finally Berks County, in Shoemakersville and then Bethel, where they built their own house in the Blue Mountains near the Appalachian Trail.
Born in Quakertown, PA, she grew up in Coopersburg, PA and was the only child of the late Elsie E. and Morris Miller.
She graduated from Coopersburg High School in 1951 and received a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Cedar Crest College in 1956. She received a Masters Degree in Library Science from Kutztown University in 1980. She was a librarian for the Tulpehocken Area Elementary schools until she retired in 1998.
She loved her dogs, as well as many of the family pets left in her care, was an avid reader, a talented pianist, hiker, and a world traveler, but above all, cherished having her family spend as much time together as possible.
Delores is survived by her children Mary Jane Doney (James) (Leesport, PA), Catherine Ann Vana (Colorado Springs, CO), Michael Kistler (Karen) (Austin, TX), and Elizabeth Silady (James) (Hillsborough, NJ).
She was "Grandma" to eight grandchildren: Cassandra (Velilla) Heifetz (Adam), Heather Velilla (deceased), Ashlen Vana, Tucker Vana, Rebecca (Kistler) Woodell (Samuel), John Kistler, Matthew Silady, and Nicholas Silady. She was also "Nana" to great grandchildren Moriah Heifetz, Caleb Heifetz, and Maxine Woodell, all of whom she was very proud.
