Delbert W. Berger, Jr., 77, of Sinking Spring, passed away on June 4, 2026, after living valiantly with Dementia since 2015. He was the husband of Pamela R. (Brackman) Berger, they enjoyed 55 years together.
He was the son of Delbert, Sr. and Rita Berger. Del was a 1966 graduate of Hamburg Area High School, where he was a three-sport athlete. Del continued his passion for athletics playing soccer at Penn State University. He served as Platoon Leader in the U.S. Army Reserve for 7 years.
He shared knowledge with many as he coached his sons in baseball, basketball, and soccer. He always encouraged them to be the best they could be in life, not just in sports. He provided many fun adventures on our boat at Blue Marsh, and we enjoyed biking and golfing. Del was instrumental in bringing soccer to Schuylkill Valley. He coordinated the installation of lights at the SV stadium in 1988. He obtained approval for construction of the Berks Co. Youth
Sports Complex in Bern Township. Del set a fine example by being a valuable employee at CarTech for 38 years. He was committed to exemplary service. He participated in the golf league, planned golf trips, and organized basketball, which he played until he was 71. Del would most like to be remembered as a good husband, father and grandfather. He taught his sons to be loving, caring, hardworking, and relentless. They continue the tradition of giving back to their community through involvement in sports. He was always there to cheer on his grandsons, he was their biggest fan.
Del is survived by his sons: Jason (wife Heather); and Travis (wife Lindsay).Six grandsons: Bailey (wife Hannah); Bryce (wife Haley); Blake, James, Zachary and Spencer. One great grandson Beau; and predeceased by twin great granddaughters Remy and Ridley. Survived by his sister, Janet Keeney; predeceased by his brother, Richard. Loved and cherished by nieces, nephews, and extended family.
